Q. Particles in water after use
Common cause: These can be mineral deposits from your tap water. They can look like dirt, sand or flakes and are harmless. The level of particles present depends on where you live, as hard water areas may contain more. It is an indication that the unit requires cleaning.
Solution: Particles can be flushed away when emptying container. Continue Maintenance Cleaning as needed. For ongoing use, consider using distilled water instead of tap water to eliminate the issue.
Q. Can I re-use the water that’s left, or do I need to empty and refill after each use?
Rinse and refill with fresh water each time you use your Vaporiser. Always empty and rinse your Vaporiser container and the base of the heating module in between each use to help wash away built-up mineral residue and excess inhalant.
Q. I’m worried about mould?
The units will not develop mould during normal use. Steam output from the unit is germ-free and sanitised. However, do not let your Vaporiser sit in old water as it may erode and degrade the parts. To reduce excess condensation in the room, always leave the door slightly open during use and air out the room in the morning.
Q. The Vaporiser is emitting an unusual smell
Common causes:
- If a new unit, this can be a normal occurrence which will dissipate over time.
- Adding inhalant after the water – always add before water. Or, not using a water soluble inhalant.
- The Vaporiser has been run dry (with no water for at least an hour).
- Depending on water quality there could be a build of mineral deposits on the heating module (see Trouble Shooting point 1 above).
Solution: Clean Vaporiser as per instructions. Failure to maintain cleaning procedure may damage the unit and void warranty.
Q. Can I add pure (100%) essential oils or oil blends to my Vaporiser?
No. Use only water soluble inhalants designed for vaporisers, like Euky Bear Sniffly Nose or Sleepy Time Inhalant.
Q. Can I use Euky Bearub, or Vicks ointment in my Vaporiser?
No. Chest rubs do not dissolve in water and will damage your Vaporiser. Use of pure oils, chest rubs, solutions or ointments in your Vaporiser can cause malfunction and will void your warranty.
Q. Can I only use Euky Bear Inhalant in my Vaporiser?
We recommend Euky Bear Sniffly Nose or Sleepy Time Inhalants. Only use a water-soluble inhalant designed for vaporisers. Other brands we recommend include Vicks VapoSteam and Bosisto’s.
Q. Vaporiser producing insufficient steam
Common cause: The amount and intensity of steam produced will vary. In the morning the water level should have dropped. If this is happening, your Vaporiser is steaming correctly.
Factors that can affect steam production include humidity, temperature and air currents or a a build up of mineral deposits which can be due to water quality (see FAQ ’Particles in water after use’).
Solution: Clean Vaporiser as per instructions. Failure to maintain cleaning procedure may damage the unit and void warranty.
Q. I can’t smell the inhalant. How can I tell it’s working?
It’s normal not to smell inhalant after a while as our senses become dulled to consistent aromas. If you are using the correct amount of inhalant then you can be confident it is working correctly.
If you have any further concerns, please contact customer service on Free call 1800 655 841.
Q. Why do you recommend placing the Vaporiser on the floor, not on a bedside table?
The unit needs to be positioned on the floor to avoid any risk of it falling or being accidently pulled down, especially by a child. We recommend on a carpeted floor, rug or towel, 1.2 meters away from any person. The unit doesn’t need to be near the intended recipient as the room will humidify uniformly.
Q. My Vaporiser feels warm.
This is normal. Like a kettle, vaporisers can get warm. Carefully read the Safety Information before use. Care needs to be taken not to touch the unit during operation. The Vaporiser produces hot steam which can scald. Never touch the steam outlet while the unit is in use. As per the Operating Manual, always keep out of reach of children. If you have any concerns please contact customer service on Free call 1800 655 841.
Q. How do I clean my Vaporiser?
Cleaning your Vaporiser is very important. Before cleaning, always switch off and unplug at power point, wait for unit to cool and empty any unused water.
After each use: Rinse all parts clean. Do not submerge heating unit or power cords in water. Dry with a clean cloth.
Maintenance cleaning (approximately per 10 uses): Rinse as per directions above. Sit the base of the heating unit in a pot or jug of white vinegar (up to the rim but not covering the power cord – do not submerge unit) for 20 minutes. Clean the opening of the steam vent gently with a cotton bud dipped in white vinegar. Afterwards, wash base in warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean cloth. Hard water areas may need more frequent cleaning..
Note: This method no longer requires the use of cleaning tablets and they have been discontinued from our range. Instead we recommend a clean using white vinegar. Vinegar is a common household item that is easily accessible, natural derived and can be used when required. If you still have remaining Cleaning Tablets and would like to continue using them you can do so. Euky Bear Cleaning tablets are non toxic, still suitable to use and you do not need to discontinue immediately. Switch to the white vinegar cleaning method when desired.
Q. Is the packaging recyclable?
The Euky Bear Warm Steam Vaporiser packaging has been assessed via the ARL (Australasian Recycling Label), and the unit carton is recyclable.
