How to wash baby bottles

Keeping your baby’s bottles squeaky clean is essential for their health, and your nose!

Leftover milk residue can quickly harbour bacteria and odours. But don’t worry - it’s easier than you think. Here’s a simple guide to washing baby bottles like a pro.

1. Disassemble and Rinse Immediately

After feeding, take the bottle apart—nipples, caps, and all. Rinse each piece under warm water to prevent milk residue from drying and turning into a sticky nightmare.

2. Soak the Parts

Fill a clean basin or sink with warm water and add a gentle yet effective cleanser like Euky Bear Baby Bottle & Utensil Cleanser. This plant-based powerhouse contains a naturally derived enzyme to break down protein-based milk stains.

It’s tough on milk residue but free from harsh chemicals, rinsing off easily to leave items clean and fresh. Let the parts soak for about 5 minutes.

3. Time to scrub

Grab a bottle brush and gently scrub inside the bottle and nipple, ensuring you get into all the nooks and crannies. Don’t forget the threads on the bottle and cap - milk loves to hide there!

4. Rinse Thoroughly

Rinse each part under running water to remove any residue and leave your baby’s bottles squeaky clean and fresh.

5. Sterilize (Optional)

For extra peace of mind, pop the parts into a sterilizer or boil them in water for 5 minutes. This step is especially important for newborns or if your little one has a compromised immune system.

6. Air Dry

Place all parts on a clean drying rack. Letting them air dry prevents bacteria from lingering in a damp environment. Alternatively use the drying setting on your electric bottle sterilizer if you have one.

Avoid using a tea towel as it can transfer bacteria or leave tiny fibres behind.

Extra tips!

Don’t… leave bottles sitting out too long after a feed. Milk residue can quickly harbour bacteria when exposed to the air. A quick rinse is better than nothing – fill a sink to dunk bottles in during night feeds and clean them in the morning.

Don’t… just use water or dish liquid to wash them. A specialised cleansing formula with an enzyme that can break down milk proteins is essential, like you’ll find in Euky Bear’s Baby Bottle & Utensil Cleanser.

Don’t… assume expressed breast milk can’t harbour bacteria. All bottles need to be washed properly.

Washing baby bottles doesn’t have to be a chore—with the right tools and Euky Bear Baby Bottle & Utensil Cleanser, it’s a breeze. Happy cleaning, happy feeding!
